Client measurements, and a check for a bad reading

Every commission starts with the tape. If a reading comes out wrong, the mannequin may not size to it. Check your three numbers here before you move on.

Careful readings land within a few tenths of these; a ≈ marks a number to treat as approximate.

Taking a clean reading

  • Drag the tape onto the yellow guide lines on the body and hold it still until the reading records.
  • If a reading will not register, try dragging the tape inward across the body rather than around the outside of it.
  • Do bust, waist and hips one at a time. A reading several units away from the numbers above usually means the tape was off the line.
  • The mannequin is sized to these numbers, and its dials stop at about 81.5 bust, 61.4 waist and 92.1 hips, so a reading below those cannot be matched.

If a reading went wrong

It matters: a bad reading of the client pulls the dress’s Quality down, even when every piece is cut and sewn at 100%. The game saves each client’s measurements. When she comes back for her next dress you get to measure her again, so a wrong number can be put right on the next visit. If you skip measuring on a later visit, the saved numbers are used. More on what drags Quality down is on getting 100% quality.

The measuring box jumping about is on known bugs and fixes, and the whole run from measuring to Finish Dress is on how a dress gets made.
