Rose, the librarian
Rose is the first person through the door, and her work dress is the tutorial. She keeps coming back, and two of her cards carry ceilings as well as floors: go too cute, too romantic or too elaborate and the dress fails.

Who Rose is
She introduces herself plainly: “My name is Rose, and I'm the town's librarian.” On her second visit she says “No, it's just that I've noticed people tend to forget me”, and then spends a while recommending books before she remembers why she came. She also has news from the library: “We recently acquired the full collected works of Nora Davis”.
Her problems are small and domestic, and every one of them ends up on a card: moths in the wardrobe, a cold front desk, mice in the cupboards, a gravedigging job and, later, a conference.
Her Sketchbook page fills in as you work for her. After two finished dresses it lists Professional and Simple under Personal style, with three slots still hidden.
Rose’s commissions
“Tweed-eater moths infested my wardrobe, and chewed holes right through my skirts. It's mortifying!” Only Professional 40 and Quality 60 stand between you and the first delivery, and her verdict when it lands is “Oh, thank goodness! This is suitable for the library, and looks wonderfully made.”

Budget 200
“The library has extended their opening hours, and the front desk gets cold in the evenings.” Then comes the line that explains the card: “As this is for work, I'd prefer not to look too cute. Just a warm, practical outfit.” That is why Cute and Romantic are capped at 20 while Warm and Professional have to reach 50. A cosy, frilly dress fails this one twice. Delivered, she says “No more shivering at the front desk for me - I could roam the arctic in this outfit!”
Staying under Cute 20 is the hard part. A build that passes: an apron bodice with no collar, long sleeves and a yoke gathered skirt in brown tweed and brown argyle. Tweed and argyle are the fabrics to reach for. More builds and a step-by-step way through are on Chilly Overtime.Rose gets chilly while working overtime, and would love a warmer dress.

Even the card sounds unsure that a librarian needs a gravedigging dress. It is the only card that caps Elaborate, at 5, so plain workwear with no trim is the safe reading, and it bans white.

“There are mice in my cupboards, and they are chewing holes in my stockings.” Her plan is to befriend them, which is why this card flips her usual brief: cute and playful at 50 each, with pink and sequins counted. This visit can come by Berty’s visiting card, where you pick Rose or Marie to come next.

Rose's ceilings, card by card
Chilly Overtime caps Cute and Romantic at 20 and Tomb Raider caps Elaborate at 5. Then Rodent Relations asks for Cute 50. If you keep one dress per client as a base to adapt, Rose is where that goes wrong: her mouse dress wants the opposite of her overtime dress.
