Dressmaker bugs and fixes

The problems players have hit since launch, what helped, and which the studio has patched. Each links to the thread it came from, so you can add your own report there.

Workaround

Every requirement is ticked but there is no Finish Dress button.

The studio’s reply: “Possibly, a pattern piece was left on the table or your fabric (Check both colours), or it's a bug report.” From the studio's reply on r/Dressmaker about a missing Finish button One player also found the button only shows with the right-hand panel set back to Patterns rather than Accessories.

Workaround

An open commission disappears after pressing Make a New Dress.

A reply in the thread: click the corners of the sketchbook pages; the card usually sits on the page to the right.

No fix yet

A commission started before saving is gone after reloading, and neither the bell nor the bird brings the next one.

No workaround has been posted. It is a softlock worth reporting on the Steam discussion board with your save.

Workaround

A pattern piece disappears while unpicking seams and does not return to the side panel.

The player who reported it had to restart the game.

Workaround

Recycled pieces do not give fabric back.

Replies in the thread say fabric comes back for a cut shape, but not for a strip you have already cut away from the bolt. The developer’s steps for recycling are on getting 100% quality.

The measurements box bounces up and down while measuring and will not take input.

Both front pieces of the Corset Bodice are labelled Bodice Front Front Left.

Reported with screenshots showing the two pieces facing opposite ways under the same label. No fix yet.

A commission the client did not love paid nothing.

Fixed in the first patch: “Fix for failed commissions not giving money (if the character accepts the commission, you should be paid)”. Listed in the studio's first patch post, Build 403

Before you report one

  • Check the patch notes: the first patch fixed an invisible cursor in the cutting tutorial, the Back button in the shop tutorial and the single keyhole bodice as well. All of it is on patch notes.
  • If a dress falls short on Quality rather than on a button, the developer points to grain alignment and staying on the seam line: see getting 100% quality.
  • If a lace trim goal will not fill, check the lace is tagged as lace trim: see lace trim and accessories.
