Who Marie is
“My name is Marie Laroche, and I am here to enquire about a dress for a funeral.” “I grew up in the next county over, in Tulleton, but I have spent the last eight years working abroad at the embassy in Charmeuse.” She is in Twillford to help her parents move, working for a Mr Dervisham who has come along too.
The line that predicts her later cards: “Oh, you know, women from Charmeuse favour colourful, patterned clothing. I now feel more comfortable in such dresses.” Two of her later cards ask for Patterned 50.

“It must be simple, formal and elegant. Very demure, very mindful of the occasion.” The card wants at least half the dress in black, not all of it.
