Dressmaker walkthrough: the story events in order
Dressmaker’s story is a run of commissions from ten recurring townspeople, gathered around town events. It opens with the Duke’s funeral; a sporting day, an art exhibition, a market fair, a hedge maze and a spring fete follow at some point, and eight more events after those. This page gives the opening in the order it arrives, what opens up along the way, and the cards that belong to each event.
The opening, commission by commission
This is the order one recorded first playthrough met the cards, with the three unlock prompts that appeared on screen between them. Commission names link to the card with its full requirements.

- Accessories unlock. The shop prompt reads “We've unlocked some Accessories, let's buy some!” Lace, bows, brooches and the rest go on after sewing: lace trim and accessories.

- Off-the-rack dresses appear. A card for making a dress of your own design shows up once the third commission is delivered, just after the fourth card arrives, which matches what a developer said. When it opens is disputed; see off the rack, selling and gifts.

- Studious Motivation for Alice

- Gifting unlocks. The prompt: “You may now also gift dresses to the clients you've met.” Each client’s preferences and measurements are then in the Sketchbook.

Pigeon Adoption is Dorothy’s first dress. Delivering it earns You’ve Got Mail and, in Dorothy’s words, “Berty has decided to go ahead with your adoption! He will accompany you from now on.” From then on some commissions come by pigeon mail. Seen in Cem Black's recorded first playthrough on YouTube
The Duke's funeral
Finishing every dress for it earns Laid To Dress, held by 70.1% of Steam players. 3 cards on this site name the event:
- Flamboyant Funeral for Prudence: Prudence needs a dress to stand out at the Duke's funeral.
- Fierce Funeral for Priya: Priya needs an intimidating dress for the funeral: formal and gothic. Naturally, it must not be colourful.
- Respectful Funeral for Marie: Marie needs a sensible black dress to attend the late Duke's funeral.
The sporting day contest
Finishing every dress for it earns Style Goals, held by 26.2% of Steam players. One card on this site names the event:
- Sporting Chance for Adora: Adora is excited to take part in the annual sporting day competition.
The achievement names it the Woman’s Sporting Day Contest and asks for all its dresses, so expect more than Adora’s.
Priya's exhibition opening
Finishing every dress for it earns Dart Deco, held by 16.3% of Steam players. 3 cards on this site name the event:
- Exhibition Opening for Priya: Priya requires a dress for her exhibition opening that represents her as an artist.
- Secret Art Critic for Adora: Adora wants an avant-garde dress for Priya's exhibition.
- Art Appreciator for Vivian: Vivian wants a sequined dress to attend Priya's art exhibition.
The Market Fair
Finishing every dress for it earns Rooting For You, held by 10.4% of Steam players. One card on this site names the event:
- Carrot Promotion for Edith: Edith wants to support Fiona at the Market Fair. Fiona wants Edith to dress as a carrot.
Fiona’s Vegetable Empire and Walking Billboard are also about her vegetable business, but neither card names the fair.
The hedge maze
Finishing every dress for it earns Hedge Your Bets, held by 7% of Steam players. 3 cards on this site name the event:
- Love Labyrinth for Alice: Alice is on a mission to find her true love in a hedge maze.
- Hedge Camouflage for Dorothy: Dorothy needs some camouflage in order to spy on people in a hedge maze.
- A-maze-ingly Lost for Fiona: Fiona is accompanying Dorothy through the Twillford Hedge Maze, and wants a loud dress in case they get lost.
The Spring Fete
Finishing every dress for it earns Don't Wanna Miss A Spring, held by 5.3% of Steam players. One card on this site names the event:
- Floral Romance for Prudence: Prudence wants a flowery dress for the Spring Fete.
