Three one-dress marathons: 300 accessories, 50m of trim, 5,000 gold
All three fit on one dress, and you can sell it.
All three are checked the moment a dress leaves your hands: handed in, sold or gifted. A dress that fails its card counts too. Harder than it Seams needs 300 accessories on the dress, and each strand of trim or lace counts as one. Trim and Proper needs the trim and lace on the dress to add up to 50m. Opulence and Excess needs the dress’s materials, fabric and accessories together, to cost 5,000 gold or more; despite its wording, the dress does not have to pass a card. So build all three into one dress covered in expensive brooches and sell it: a brooch dress tends to sell for more than it cost, so the attempt pays for itself.
The three side by side
- Harder than it Seams
Asks: Place over 300 accessories on one dress. Players: 0.7%
Cheapest: the cheapest buttons, at about 1 gold each, on the plainest dress you can make, then sell it.300 is enough. It registers when the dress is handed in, sold or gifted, not while you are placing.
Time: short with Shift held. Budget about half an hour for a dress with a few thousand clicks.
- Trim and Proper
Asks: Use more than 50m of trim on a single dress. Players: 0.6%
Cheapest: no commission needed. Trim and lace trim both count toward the 50m. Leftover fabric from off-the-rack dresses makes a fine base, and the dress can be sold.
Time: the slow one. Budget several hours for a full 50m of trim.
- Opulence and Excess
Asks: Spend more than 5 000 gold on a successful dress. Players: 0.3%
Cheapest: it cannot be cheap: the floor is the 5,000 itself, fabric and accessories together. Sell the dress afterwards: at Quality 50 or more it sells for at least what went into it.
Time: the gold is the wait. Leave it for late in the game, when money stops being short. It works after the story ends too, on a dress you sell.

One dress for all three: cost and steps
The trick that makes it one dress: 5,000 gold over 300 pieces is 17 gold a piece, so if every accessory costs that much or more, the same 300 pieces clear both lines. The fabric counts toward the 5,000 too, so a costly fabric lowers what the accessories must cover. Brooches bought in bulk have run to about 42 gold each (1,000 for 42,000), well over it.
| Step | What to do | Gold |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Save up | Sell burlap dresses, then a first brooch dress, until you hold well over 5,000. Test one brooch dress before repeating it: a good one can multiply your savings. The routes are on making money, and how selling works is on off the rack. | Free to start |
| 2. Pick the base | A plain dress in free burlap if you plan to sell it. If you would rather hand it in, use a card with no (Max) line: 72 of the 77 cards in the commission finder have none. Brooches raise tags such as Glamour and Playful, so a capped card fails. | 0 for burlap |
| 3. Lay the trim first | 50m or more in total, trim and lace together, across the whole dress. Each strand also counts as one accessory toward the 300. Trim before accessories, so the buttons or brooches can sit on the crossings. Removing and flattening trim is on lace trim and accessories. | Not known |
| 4. Reach 300 accessories | Buy one expensive brooch in bulk and hold Shift (Place Multiple) to set them one after another. Set the shop’s quantity slider on purpose: it keeps the last amount you bought. | 5,000 or more at 17+ each |
| 5. Finish and sell | Finish Dress, take the photo, press Sell dress and read the price before you confirm. | Often a profit; check first |
| 6. If one did not pop | Count again: at least 300 accessories (trim strands included), 50m of trim and lace, and 5,000 of fabric and accessories. The dress does not have to pass a card, so any dress you hand in, sell or gift can carry a second attempt. | Whatever was short |
Keys and comfort for hundreds of clicks
- Shift is Place Multiple
The placement bar lists it with Z to zoom and Q and E to rotate. Hold it and each click places another of the same accessory. The rest of the keys are on the controls page.
- On a Steam Deck or controller
There is no controller support yet, so bind Shift to a button in a custom profile: a shared community layout puts it on Y. More on Steam Deck and controllers.
- Expect stutter
A dress with thousands of accessories can freeze for a few seconds at a time and drag the frame rate down. Save the heaviest dresses for when you can sit through it. Lag fixes are on crashes and lag.
Quick answers
- Does a sold dress count for Opulence and Excess? Yes. So does a gifted dress, or one handed in that fails its card.
- Does trim count toward the 300? Yes: each strand of trim or lace counts as one accessory, however long it is.
- Is there a running total for trim? Not for the achievement. Your trim in the accessory tray goes down by the metres you lay, so buy a known amount and watch it fall; lay a little past 50m to be safe.
Which achievements can be lost for good, and which only look that way, is on missable achievements.
